Evening kōrero with Bexie Towle
About Taiea te Taiao:
Maungatautari to Pirongia
Ecological Corridor
Co-hosted with Whāingaroa Environment Centre / Te Pokapū Taiao o Whāingaroa as their 27th Science Night
Taiea te Taiao was created to promote an ecological corridor to link Maungatautari and Pirongia te Aroaro o Kahu. The corridor will reconnect these maunga/mountains with biodiversity plantings which will enhance native species present, transform iwi connections to the Mangapiko stream and, ultimately, improve water quality.
Taiea te Taiao is a co-governed project with NZ Landcare Trust, Pirongia Restoration Society, Purekireki marae Maungatautari Ecological Island Trust, Waikato Regional Council, Waipā District Council, Ngāti Apakura, Ngāti Kōroki Kahukura and Maungatautari to Pirongia Ecological Corridor Inc Soc as well as, most importantly, landowners and community.
