Now it’s time to remove any leftover bait in our bait station network. Detox Days are normally lighter and faster than deploy days!
Can you contribute a few hours on the 28 February?
Join us on an important mission that’s always rewarded with… cake!
This time, we’ll also finish off the day with a BBQ! More details on this to come.
Why volunteer with us?
🌱 Play a crucial role in conservation efforts to protect native wildlife.
🌱 Experience the breathtaking beauty of Karioi while making a positive impact.
🌱 Meet like-minded individuals and be part of a great community.
You’ll receive:
🌱 Lots of cake!
🌱 All the training and info you need.
🌱 A baiting buddy if it's your first time up the maunga.
🌱 A "thank you" from the birds and trees that will love your work!
No prior experience is necessary – just a willingness to get involved, and a love for nature! Whether you're a seasoned environmentalist or simply someone who wants to give back to the planet, we welcome you to join us.
However, a reasonable level of fitness is necessary because tracks can be uneven and steep at times, and you’ll be carrying a backpack with varying amounts of bait - up to 5 kg. Saying that we’ve had volunteers ranging from 15 to 75 in the past! (We can match track difficulty levels to the perfect volunteer for the job.)
Time: Meet at 8 am. Most likely finished before 2 pm.
What to Bring: Sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, water bottle, lunch, enthusiasm!
Pre-registration is necessary - please email Jasmine at karioi.volunteer@arocha.org to register your interest.
