Imagine kiwi, kereru, and kākā right on your doorstep and penguins waddling down the beach! A forest alive with birdsong and our kids enjoying the rewards of decades of hard work - the restoration of our unique mountain-to-sea landscape.

Every dollar donated is adding hectares of protection and restored biodiversity to our beautiful maunga!

The Karioi Project is a community-led biodiversity restoration project connecting people to nature, and inspiring them to care for it through landscape-scale predator control, seabird monitoring, and environmental education.

Beyond the mountain to the sea, the Karioi Project links two maunga, three harbours, wetlands and streams to protect biodiversity on more than 23,000 ha.

With thousands of hours of volunteer input and massive support from our community - landowners and backyard trappers, the Karioi Project has managed predators on Karioi for over a decade and now seabirds and forest birds are returning to breeding status in the area.
