Generosity for Karioi

Last year, Mark Frost of Bayleys Real Estate was inspired after volunteering for the project checking traps and getting involved in beach clean-ups. Mark offered to donate $10,000 of his commission from the successful list and sale of a property in Raglan.

Donating to a cause he is passionate about - for Mark - is not simply transactional. And, like Mark, numerous people and families in this community have reached out and found ways to connect and work together for our inspirational cause. Our hope is that the Karioi Project will be transformative for people, our community and the planet.

When Raglan homeowners and Karioi Project supporters, Dianne and Tony, decided to support the cause – they contacted Mark as the agent to sell their house. Mark sold their house within four weeks and the Karioi Project received a generous donation. Thanks so much, Mark!

There are a whole bunch of cool stories like this. Awesome people doing good for nature.

For the Karioi Project, it's been a huge community effort - from runners and cyclists donating by participating in sporting events, businesses and families adopting an “ōi burrow”, buying a predator trap, and local business sponsors donating generously from the sale of their services and products. Plus, over a hundred local volunteers give up hours of their time every week to check predator traps and monitor seabirds.

When we look at all the results achieved, lessons learned and hours contributed - we thank you for your part in the Karioi Project.
